James Thompson Members supporting the Mark 2024 Festival Kayak Challenge

one of the key aspects of the James Thompson Lodge, is the active support we give, in involvement or participation in money raising causes and challenges, and in the past our members have taken part in events such as the coast to coast walk, and organised the Pan Cheshire bike ride for the Craft 2016 festival, and most recently the Q2Q ride in 2019 in aid of the Cheshire Freemasons Charity.
This year is no different, with our members taking part in and being involved in the organisation of the East to West Kayak Challenge, for the 2024 Mark festival, with those signed up so far including Graham Knowles, Ray Cramer, John Miller, Gary Horstman, and there are rumours that Alan Jones is also considering dipping his toe in as well, which he normally does with gusto, as demonstrated by the photo below.
The Challenge, which is spread over three days sees a team of 12 kayak from Marple in the East of the Province, to Ellesmere Port in the West, following the canal network a distance of some 75 or so miles, over the long weekend of the 10th-12th of June.
